Sokcho is a charming little fishing port, wedged between the sea and the mountains. It's also an excellent gateway to Seoraksan and the Naksansa temple. Sokcho also boasts several beautiful beaches and an atypical district, Abai. Hundreds of North Korean refugees took refuge here during the war, and today it's a timeless place. But this village has become very touristy, which is perhaps a pity. Try one of the many fish restaurants. From Seoul (Gyeongbu), there are at least 2 trips per hour (between 6 a.m. and 11.30 p.m.). Allow 2h25 driving time for 15,000 to 30,000 won.
