Senggigi is Lombok's largest seaside resort, with a predominantly older clientele. The town stretches along a winding, charmless road with giant advertising hoardings for some ten kilometers. Hotels, restaurants and souvenir stores are located on this road. On one side, wedged between cliffs and green hills, on the other by bays lined with coconut groves, the road to Senggigi is magnificent, but unfortunately boasts large hotel complexes. The town is more of a stopover on the way to the Gili Islands, and one or two days are enough to appreciate this somewhat sleepy seaside resort. A scooter trip along the Monkey Forest Road and the Senggigi coast remains the most popular activity.
