After Pekutatan, the road goes up the hill and then curves towards the sea. It is there, on the left, that Medewi Beach is located. The village was built in 1912 when the whole area was covered with the thorny ketket trees whose name in Balinese is meduwi. At first, this beach lived from fishing, and now it tries to live from tourism by promoting surfing, because here the waves are more accessible (a long left). For non-surfers however, the beach is covered with pebbles and fishermen's boats. There is no village as such, just a few houses and a small street that goes down from the road to the sea.
