In the west of Calvados, in the heart of the Norman Pre-Bocage, the new commune of Caumont-sur-Aure brings together the former communes of Livry, La Vacquerie and Caumont-l'Éventé, where one of the most important butter markets in France was held in the first half of the 18th century. With its agricultural tradition, this territory of 2,500 inhabitants cultivates its art of living between rurality and urban activity on a human scale. A discovery enhanced by two sites not to be missed: the Albizia gardens, the only labelled remarkable garden in the Pré-Bocage, and the Souterroscope des Ardoisières, for an intriguing underground journey in a former slate mine.
