For the past ten years or so, Kui-Zin has offered a menu of diverse influences. While Moroccan cuisine predominates, with tajines, couscous, pastilla and tanjia, Italy is not far behind. As it happens, Kenza Assri, first chef and right-hand woman to manager Hassan Amjahdi, lived there for fourteen years. Enough to trigger the amore della pasta! The evening is rounded off by a live band playing traditional music, to be enjoyed on the terrace by starlight.

The Backchich now has a little brother, the Blackchich Café. Same owners, a little more restaurant than café, the establishment differs by more than a letter. In fact, the menu features Senegalese cuisine, as well as a few Lebanese specialties and forgotten Berber dishes such as angel hair with cinnamon. However, the original, arty decor, relaxed atmosphere, warm, young welcome and affordable prices are all very much in keeping with the original concept. Ideal for dinner for two on the terrace.

Three hundred years old, this family riad bears the first name of its current owner. While its tree-lined patio has lent itself to numerous film shoots, it was also the living quarters of the Glaoui, illustrious pasha and ancestor of the master of the house. Moderate appetites will delight in a Makfoul lamb tagine with a hint of cinnamon. Gourmets will appreciate a full traditional menu. L'univers Moro is a small hotel with swimming pool in the heart of Majorelle, a concept-store, but also a restaurant offering dishes that seduce the taste buds with sun-drenched classics. On the 100% homemade menu: a choice of starters to share (zaalouk, taktouka, loubilya, caramelized pumpkin, etc.), several original pastillas, not forgetting the signature dish, marinated chicken on a bed of shredded cauliflower like couscous. Cooking like at home " because the dishes are never as good as prepared this way", says Younes, manager of the restaurant les Terrasses de la medersa. His speciality: royal couscous and sa t'faya (sauce with chickpeas, raisins and caramelised onions). Conviviality, its key word, is found even in the decoration, simple, but warm. The terrace, which has been refreshed, is located just in front of the Ben Youssef medersa and the mosque. Lovers of Arab-Andalusian architecture will be delighted.

Studio KO, who designed the fabulous YSL museum, is responsible for the natural-toned decor of this new little restaurant in the new town. Its other special feature? It's run exclusively by women (the name means "soul mates" in Darija), and it's they who are at work both in the dining room and in the kitchen, which sits in the middle of the restaurant, surrounded by a counter where you can sit and watch. On the plate, Moroccan recipes range from classic pastillas and tajines to trid, a typical dish little known to tourists.
