Russian colony built in 1826, housing Russian artists and musicians in traditional wooden houses.
The Russian colony Alexandrowkais another curiosity of Potsdam. Between the Puschkinallee and Am Schragen lies what was once a Russian village built in 1826 at the instigation of Friedrich-Guillaume III and named after his friend Czar Alexander I. This settlement was home to Russian artists and musicians, whose names can still be read on these traditional Russian wooden houses. One can climb the hill to the Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Church.
