CLÄRCHENS BALLHAUS

Guinguette
4/5
2 reviews

Here is a place that is very charming, with its tired facade which, unlike the rest of the street, has not been ravaged. This magnificent ballroom over a hundred years old continues to attract dancers. From the end of the morning, until late in the night, we see couples of all ages, or groups of friends, who come to sketch a few steps of waltz, swing or tango, with a pinte or a glass of riesling. A real tea-dancing atmosphere on Sunday! The small garden on the street as well as the inner courtyard are also a pleasant stop, where you can snack or simply drink a beer. If you don't like dancing, the Clärchens Ballhaus is also a very good German restaurant.

BOHNENGOLD

Club
5/5
1 review

A bar-club that oscillates between a feverish evening on the dancefloor and incessant chatting with friends. We listen to disco (sometimes) and electro, we drink cocktails (all the time) and as often in Berlin, we feel like we're in a friend's apartment, between old charms and old school lamps. You can easily be tempted by a game of table football between the bar and the dancefloor. To put it simply, the Bohnengold is the ideal appetizer for a wild Berlin night out and you'll probably stay longer than expected.

SO36

Club

The name of the entrance SO36 recalls the old postal code of the eastern part of Kreuzberg at the time of the division of the town, which you will often find tagged along the walls of Oranienstraße. Since the 1980s, the SO36 has been an institution and offers a wide variety of evening events. Between Bingo (lottery) on the second Tuesday of the month, dance classes on Thursday evening, Roller Skate Disco evenings on Monday before moving on to the punk concert. Diversity of themes and audiences that have made the reputation of this underground culture HQ.

URBAN SPREE

Club

Bar, club, renowned concert hall, art gallery, beer garden and artists' studio: Urban Spree symbolizes the festive and artistic spirit of Friedrichshain. Set up by the French team of the former HBC, which in the late 2000s was already organizing numerous performances popular with Berlin's underground scene, this establishment is the venue for the wildest parties. Excellent DJs, readings and performances, (urban) art markets and, in summer, a garden ideal for drinks and food from the food trucks set up on the premises.

MATRIX

Club
4/5
1 review

The Matrix attracts a very young and mainly tourist public, partly due to the many youth hostels in the surrounding area. Its popularity among young people is also probably due to a well-known German reality TV series, partly filmed at the Matrix: Berlin Tag & Nacht (Berlin Day & Night). You won't find a typical Berlin atmosphere here. On the other hand, the venue is quite large - seven rooms - and offers a heterogeneous, though mainly commercial, musical program.

WATERGATE

Club
4/5
1 review

One of the district's flagship addresses, the Watergate is one of Berlin's trendy youth venues, but tourists are also welcome. A magical view of the river, two beautifully glazed floors where the DJs - techno, electro and house - are always good and the sound system absolutely excellent. Although not as popular as it used to be, it is still a very good place to spend evenings and the entrance is much easier than in other clubs. Its floating terrace on the Spree with a view of the Oberbaumbrücke is unique.

YAAM

Club
4/5
1 review

After several moves, Yaam has settled in Friedrichshain, opposite the Ostbahnhof (East Station), on the water's edge, in a surprising setting. The Yaam concept is simple: to offer a playground and relaxation area for all Berliners in need of roots and sunshine. You'll find all the regulars here: rastas, small families and young people who have come for an after-party to chill out to the sounds of ragga and hip-hop. The range of entertainment is vast and the soul-food delicious, while the atmosphere is one of ganja and Jamaican sound systems.

Since it opened in 2013, it has had several identities. It was first known as Kosmonaut Club, then Polygon Club before being christened OXI. The club has two indoor dance floors and an open-air area called OXI Garten. The club's main focus is electronic music in all its facets (House, Techno, Acid, Breaks...), with an eclectic line-up and renowned DJs from Berlin and beyond! Go when the weather's nice and enjoy the garden!

HAVANNA CLUB

Club

It's the most Latin of Berlin's big clubs. On three floors, you can dance to all kinds of Afro-American music: salsa, merengue, everything you need to party in a torrid atmosphere. The audience is varied, but you don't see many people under 25. The club may be huge, but it is quickly saturated and very quickly we dance tightly together. It is not uncommon that the doormen have to turn away newcomers after 1am! And while we're at it, we might as well go very early, because we offer free dance lessons from 9pm.

HOUSE OF WEEKEND

Club

Former premises of the Haus des Reisens, the place where visas were granted to East German citizens, you come here to dance at the weekend and enjoy the beautiful panorama. The club is located on the 12th floor of a building near Alexanderplatz. You can enjoy the sights of Berlin, the view of the Museumsinsel and Unter den Linden. To enjoy this view, you will have to put up with the somewhat snobbish atmosphere and the sometimes very picky guards at the entrance. On the playlist side, a rather bland mainstream electro is waiting for you.

SUICIDE CIRCUS

Club

The latest addition to the former railway warehouses on Revaler Straße (the popular and alternative RAW-Gelände). The Suicide Club has a rave atmosphere, often with drum and bass or techno. The audience, a bit younger and more Berlin-based than in other electro clubs in the city, comes to dance well into the morning. To get an idea, check out the list of DJs who played in this club! Let's hope that this kind of place will survive the threat of the rampant gentrification in the neighborhood...

RSO.BERLIN

Club

RSO.Berlin is located in the cultural center Revier Südost, managed by the team behind the former techno club Griessmühle. While Griessmühle no longer exists, the center moved in 2020 to this new location formerly occupied by the Bärenquell brewery. The interior space has a real industrial, slightly edgy charm. The program is rather classic Berlin, neat techno music. In addition to the club, during the day the center has a cozy beer garden with an outdoor area, ideal for the summer.
