You are in the middle of the Middle Rhine Valley, at the heart of this UNESCO World Heritage Reserve, which is undoubtedly the most beautiful of the Rhine. This kilometres of valley of by rocky mountains creating picturesque formations is one of the most beautiful river landscapes in Germany and one of the most famous in Europe. St Goar is located in the middle of the Lorelei parade. This narrow passage of the Rhine was for a long time, by the pitfalls that parsemaient it prior to its development in 1832, an obstacle to navigation. Legend tells us that a beautiful siren, La, sang and thus attracted sailors in this dangerous area, causing them to fail against the reefs of the river. The schistose rock of the Lorelei élèvant 132 m above the river and digging up to a depth of 22 m, it has a very good echo, which undoubtedly explains this legend. Sung by Heinrich Heine, magnified by Wagner, Lorelei will lead you to the heart of the Germanic myths.
