Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Quedlinburg is a small wonder. During East German Goslar, it is the most beautiful city in Harz. Its streets are dotted with superb half-timbered houses, there are 1,400 of them. The oldest date back to around 1300 and were built over a period of six centuries. Between the 14th and 20th centuries, the people of Quedlinburg were at the origin of an "Art Nouveau" in architecture. The city reveals true splendours: the Renaissance town hall, the market square, the castle, the imposing Romanesque church overlooking the landscape are remarkable. The spectacular Quedlinburg is therefore worth the trip. In summer, it attracts hordes of tourists, IF you come in autumn, or in winter, a much quieter period, you will enjoy the site more.
