Condé-sur-Noireau, which became Condé-en-Normandie in 2016 through the merger of several communes, was destroyed by bombing in June 1944, despite having been the industrial powerhouse of the département since the 18th century. In the 1950s, it regained its status as an economic hub. We love its traditional market with excellent market gardeners and producers, its municipal park and vast pond. Its media library, two museums and Art et Essai cinema make it a lively town all year round. Condé is also the birthplace of Dumont d'Urville, who discovered Terre Adélie in 1840. For all these reasons, Condé is well worth a visit.
