Just outside Berlin's southern gateway lies Königs Wusterhausen, easily reached by S-Bahn (S46). Forests and lakes mark the landscape of this region, through which the waters of the Dahme flow. In the town itself, Königs Wuterhausen ("KW" as the locals call it), which was not spared the destruction of the Second World War, there is little to see apart from the castle of Elector and "King-Sergeant" Frederick William I, where he used to go hunting. The town now belongs to the suburbs of Berlin. The telecommunications tower on the Funkerberg is also worth a look.
