The Pearl of the Côte Fleurie will celebrate its 120th anniversary in 2025. Originally called Beuzeval, Houlgate, like many of its coastal neighbors, experienced a boom in the second half of the 19th century, thanks to the popularity of sea bathing. It was in 1858 that the personality of the future Houlgate took shape, with the construction of the villas that now make up its distinctive architectural heritage. By an (edifying!) decree of August 14, 1904, effective January 21, 1905, Beuzeval-les-Bains officially became Houlgate, a family-friendly, dynamic seaside resort - a dynamism that grew from strength to strength.
