Visit Petit Lourdes, a two-thirds replica of the larger Lourdes in the Pyrenees, in Hérouville-Saint-Clair.
Little known, Petit Lourdes is a real gem. Completed in 1885, it is an exact 2/3 replica of the "big" Lourdes in the Pyrenees. For the record, it was a man from Rouen, M. Duboscq, who took the initiative for this construction following the miraculous healing of his wife during a stay in Lourdes. It was his way of thanking the Virgin Mary and offering Normans unable to make the journey to the original Marian city a place of pilgrimage close to home. If you haven’t been there before, it’s sure to make for a lovely walk.
