Beamsville is part of the City of Lincoln, along with Vineland, Jordan, Campden, Tintern and Rockway. It is named after one of its earliest settlers, Jacob Beam, an American Loyalist from New Jersey who, after being imprisoned during the American War of Independence for collaborating with British troops, decided to settle in the Niagara Peninsula with his family. Beamsville lies amidst the many vineyards and fruit growing areas. Its century-old brick houses give it a certain charm and its downtown area, concentrated on King Street, houses the majority of businesses and services.
