Cathedral designated as a monument of historic interest by the National Capital Commission and the Corporation of the City.

Designated a landmark in 1978 by the National Capital Commission and the Corporation of the City of Ottawa, the Ottawa Cathedral, with its two silver spires surrounding a life-size statue of the Virgin Mary, was built between 1841 and 1858, and restored in the late 1990s. Masses are held in English, French and even bilingual. Guided tours are also available by reservation (temporarily suspended).

Même si l'architecture extérieure semble assez banale (exception faite des deux tours argentées), je vous conseille de faire une brève halte dans cette cathédrale. L'intérieur est, tout simplement, splendide : magnifique plafond étoilé, nombreux vitraux restaurés... Venez plutôt en fin d'après-midi : à ce moment-là, les rayons du soleil traversent les vitraux centraux et rejaillissent, dans un magnifique jeu de lumières, sur le sol.
