Petit Futé's opinion on OLD PORT OF MONTREAL

Converted into a recreational and tourist park, and highly frequented in summer and winter, the Old Port of Montréal extends over more than 2 kilometres and offers a breathtaking view of the majestic St. Lawrence River and the islands of Jean-Drapeau Park. The most athletic will climb the 192 steps of the Clock Tower for a stunning show (bring your camera!). A place of great entertainment, it is THE destination par excellence for spending a few hours or a full day with family or friends, with a phenomenal amount of activities on offer, including the Ferris Wheel and the Montreal Science Centre, both open all year round. In summer, we rent pedal boats, quadricycles and Segways; we cruise the river or take a hectic excursion on the Lachine rapids; we zip up or relax on the urban beach; we enjoy street entertainment and festivities... Winter is not to be outdone with ice skating, the Montreal Ice Canoe Challenge and more festivities. The docks come alive in all seasons, especially during New Year's celebrations, the winter Igloofest electro music event (to be experienced!) or the YUL EAT street cooking festival. And as if that wasn't enough, almost every year, Cirque du Soleil sets up its large tent for a colourful show. Consult the website for details of the program and especially to know the prices and schedules specific to each activity.
