Petit Futé's opinion on OLD PORT OF MONTREAL

Converted into a recreational and tourist park, the Old Port of Montreal is over 2 kilometres long and offers a breathtaking view of the majestic St. Lawrence River and the islands of Jean Drapeau Park. The most athletic will climb the 192 steps of the Clock Tower for a breathtaking view (bring your camera!). A great place to spend a few hours or a whole day with family and friends, with a phenomenal number of activities on offer, including the Ferris Wheel and the Montréal Science Centre, both open year-round. In summer, you can rent pedal boats, quadricycles and Segways; take a cruise on the river or a thrilling excursion on the Lachine Rapids; go zip-lining or lounge on the urban beach; enjoy street entertainment and festivities... Winter is not to be outdone with ice skating, the family winter park and more festivities. The waterfront comes alive in all seasons, especially during New Year's Eve celebrations, the winter electro music festival Igloofest (to be experienced!) or the gourmet event PoutineFest. And as if that wasn't enough, almost every year, Cirque du Soleil sets up its big tent for a colourful show. Check out the website for details on the program and, above all, for the prices and times of each activity.
