Tadoussac is the capital of whale-watching. From May to October, they flock to this plankton-rich part of the St. Lawrence. They can be seen from cruise ships or the wharf. Naturally, they attract busloads of tourists from all over the world. Tadoussac is a very pleasant place to stay: the bay is magnificent and the village is very friendly. It lies on the north shore of the mouth of the Saguenay Fjord, which flows into the St. Lawrence Estuary. A free 24-hour ferry service crosses the mouth between Baie-Sainte-Catherine and Tadoussac.
