Sainte-Adèle lies at the foot of a lake at the top of Côte Morin. This is the birthplace of Claude-Henri Grignon, writer, polemicist and journalist, whose novel Un homme et son péché was the subject of a TV series that ran for a record number of years. A park bears his name, part of the Place des Citoyens, where a public market is held in fine weather. The area is also home to a year-round program of artists and craftspeople. The town is also home to two well-known ski areas, Ski Chantecler and Sommet Gabriel (the latter also boasts a resort).
