Vieux-Terrebonne is a real heritage treasure. It was here, in 1673, that the title deeds of the Seigneurie de Terrebonne were first given to a French citizen, André Daulier-Deslandes. Nearly 50 years later, Abbé Louis Lepage became lord of the manor, followed by Joseph Masson (1832), who oversaw the development of commercial and agricultural activities. A first wooden bridge was inaugurated in 1834, linking Terrebonne to Île Jésus (Laval), and soon after, two important towns occupied the territory: a commercial centre, Terrebonne, and an agricultural centre, Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne. These two entities merged in 1985.
