Situated near the Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola ferry, Berthierville faces the Lac Saint-Pierre archipelago, a unique lake environment with a Louisiana bayous feel. Inside this archipelago of islands, where the channels cut through the land like a Chinese puzzle, lies the largest heronry in Quebec. The Berthier islands, which together with the Sorel islands form the Lac Saint-Pierre archipelago, have been officially recognized by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve. Berthierville also boasts another major attraction: the Musée Gilles-Villeneuve, entirely dedicated to the Quebec racing driver and the world of racing.
