The economy of this small municipality of just over 1,000 people is based primarily on the fishery. The boats that you will see docking or leaving off shore are a testament to the importance of this industry in the region. In fact, a major fish processing plant is located not far from the shore: Lelièvre, Lelièvre et Lemoignan (GaspéCured). It distributes frozen, salted/dried and smoked seafood products (shop open all year long) and you can even see cod drying on the vines. Until recently, the place housed a cod economuseum, but it was dismantled in 2018.
