Its inhabitants are of Basque origin, hence their charming accent. The word Paspébiac is derived from the Micmac word Ipsigiag which means "broken batture". Part of its waterfront is landscaped with deck chairs, a playground for the youngest and a lovely promenade lit up at night. Mention should also be made of the Casavant organ in the Notre-Dame church. But its main attraction remains the Paspébiac National Historic Site, the place that once made the village the cod capital. In season, the place comes alive as it did in the 18th and 19th centuries, with guides in period costume and traditional crafts.
