Experience the Mi'gmaq in Gaspé! Located on a promontory on the north shore of Gaspé Bay, nestled against the mountain and just a stone's throw from the forest, the Micmac de Gespeg Interpretation Site will help you discover this nation from past to present, its occupation of Gaspé territory, its history and culture. Explore the Mi'gmaq world through the interpretation center and native crafts boutique, and the faithful reconstruction of a traditional village and summer camp as found in the 17th century. Come rain or shine, enjoy a unique experience on Mi'gmaq land, in the presence of guides-interpreters and craftspeople who are members of the nation. You'll appreciate their ancestral know-how and their contribution to the Gaspé community. Guided tours of the interpretation site are available in French and English by reservation, and last a maximum of two hours (times and rates are available on the website). Please note that the site is always closed between 12pm and 1pm. For group bookings, please contact them directly to arrange your visit on site.
An authentic Mi'gmaq site to discover through its guided tour, its thematic permanent exhibition and its boutique offering a range of authentic, quality handicrafts (for great souvenirs), not forgetting its delicious bannock (traditional native bread). You're sure to fall in love!
