An Acadian bastion, the town was founded in 1760 following the deportation of Acadians from villages in the southern Maritime provinces. It's no surprise, then, to find the Musée acadien du Québec, a site that tells the moving story of their lives. Given the diversity and quality of activities on offer in and around Bonaventure, it's an ideal place to spend a few days. Experiences include exploring a half-million-year-old cave, paddling one of the ten most crystal-clear rivers in the world, exploring the region's ecosystems in a biopark or sampling beers from the new microbrewery.
