Here the river gently becomes an estuary. As you walk along the wharf and marina, the panorama opens up on the Isle-aux-Grues archipelago, Île d'Orléans and Mont Sainte-Anne, located just across the street in the Quebec City area. Berthier-sur-Mer is also the departure point for cruises to Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site, a former quarantine station in the middle of the St. Lawrence River where many human tragedies took place (allow 6 hours for the round-trip crossing and the visit). For a "lighter" excursion, cruises are offered to the Isle-aux-Grues archipelago.
