Since the 7th century, Évrecy has been the seat of a monastery of great renown, destroyed in the 9th century by the various barbarian invasions in Normandy. In the 11th century, the bishops of Bayeux established a Châtellenie, of which the kings of France became holders from 1204. Later on, the impact of the fighting in the summer of 1944 was terribly heavy in Évrecy. The shells destroyed 86% of the village, leaving the survivors with a field of ruins. Today, the commune, crossed by the Guigne, has large protected natural spaces where it is good to walk. The parks of Moulins and Bellefontaine form 8 hectares of ponds, woods and meadows
