Self-proclaimed capital of Acadia, Caraquet, which means "the meeting of two rivers" in Micmac, lives mainly from services, fishing and tourism. It is a must-see destination on the Acadian Peninsula where it is good to spend a few days to explore the region. The famous Acadian Historical Village, located not far from Bertrand, is a must-see to immerse yourself in the daily life of the Acadians from 1770 to 1949. In August, don't miss the Acadian Festival which culminates on August 15, the National Acadian Day, with the Grand Tintamarre, a huge colorful and festive parade.
