Situated between Caen and the sea, Dover boasts more than 2,200 years of history. It owes its name "Délivrande" to the Black Virgin whose cult, popular in the region since the 7th century, gives rise to a pilgrimage every August. Dynamic and pleasant to live in thanks to its shops, schools and inter-communal aquatic centre, it is also known for its basilica, its British military cemetery and its radar museum. At the same time, the commune is working to enhance its heritage, including - the latest operation to date - the episcopal manor, called "La Baronnie", with a cultural and tourist vocation.
