Huge turquoise lake named after a high mountain guide, accessible by following Bow Summit Parking and a small trail.
Unmissable for its turquoise colour and vastness, this lake owes its name to a certain Bill Peyto, a pioneer and high mountain guide from the United Kingdom, one of the first guardians of Banff National Park. In 1898, during an expedition, having sought a few moments of solitude, Bill got lost, slipped, and his fellow travellers found him asleep on the edge of this lake. Nice wake-up call! Drive to the Bow Summit Parking, follow a small path and you're there to enjoy a day out or a picnic by the water.
