Passing Mbamou Island, after a 20-minute sail, we reach another, much smaller island, named Faignond in homage to its first resident, or at least the first to go down in history, Emile Joachim Faignond. Uninhabited, it comes alive at weekends. A beach, more or less extensive depending on the season, a few straw huts where you can eat and drink. A cosmopolitan clientele lounges here, between convivial meals and safe swimming in an arm of the river. In addition, the piroguers often suggest a visit to the Manguenguengé cliffs, not far from the island, renowned for their blindingly white chalky rock.
