This commercial center of great importance was created on May 26, 1739 by the governor José Manso de Velasco. It went through several destructions and reconstructions and was the headquarters of the frontier army: its history coincides with the conquest of Araucania. Bernardo O'Higgins was the first mayor of Los Angeles, in 1811. Los Angeles was also the city where the extraordinary story of Orelie-Antoine I of Patagonia and Araucania ended, who was arrested in the area and incarcerated in the local jail. This peaceful city has many green spaces that give it a very special small town charm.
