NEHRU TROPHY BOAT RACE

Don't miss the Nehru Trophy regattas, normally held on the second Saturday in August, but the date can be changed in case of bad weather. They attract thousands of spectators and a large number of competitors. The long, snake-like boats, called Chundan Vallam in Malayalam, can hold 120 people in two rows of 60 each. The enthusiastic crowd, the energy and coordination of the rowers make this competition an exhilarating experience. Tickets are available from authorized sales outlets (bearing the NTBR logo).
