The town boasts one of the region's only surf clubs, the Shaka Surf Club, located on Kodi Bengre beach, some 20 km north of Udupi, on a long spit of sand. The club also offers on-site accommodation. Malpe beach offers a wide range of water sports activities, and a boat trip to St. Mary's Island offers a view of countless hexagonal volcanic rock pillars.
