42 km from Kargil, on the road to Lamayuru. From Lamayuru, before reaching the Buddhist village of Mulbekh, you'll have to cross the Namika Pass, which rises to 3,719 m. Lost in the Wakha valley, the surroundings of this charming village reveal superb green landscapes, between barley fields and terraced crops. In addition to two monasteries, Serdung Gompa and Gandentse Gompa, there is a 9-metre-high image of Maitreya Buddha (or Future Buddha) carved into the rock. More than 1,000 years old, it rests in the Chamba Gompa, where you can also admire beautiful frescoes.
