Altitude: 3,096 m. Opposite Diskit, on the opposite bank of the Shyok River, Sumur is a small hamlet of around 40 houses where camps and guesthouses have sprung up. Numerous ancient chörtens dot the alleyways of this peaceful village. Accommodation is basic, but provides an opportunity to explore the superb surroundings. Numerous hiking trails start from the village. Its authentic atmosphere is Sumur's main attraction for international tourists, but it's the temples that attract the locals. The best time to visit Sumur is from June to September.
