5 km above Dal Lake and 15 km north of McLeod Ganj. Altitude: approx. 2,000 m. The village of Naddi overlooks a superb valley and the Dhauladhar mountain range. The deep green of the terraced farmland sets off the immaculate white of the snow-capped peaks. The beauty of this picture far exceeds that of McLeod Ganj. The village is mostly inhabited by members of the Gaddi minority, an ethnic group of nomadic Hindu herders from the Himalayas, moving with their flocks of sheep in search of pasture. This superb site, which is also the starting point for numerous treks in the region, is well worth a visit.
