White marble palace in Mughal and Italian Renaissance styles, built by Lord Curzon, with sculptures and painting galleries.
Begun in 1906 and completed in 1921, this palace is a clever combination of Mughal and Italian Renaissance styles, all in white marble. Built by Lord Curzon to honor Queen Victoria and her empire, this building wanted to rival the Taj Mahal in its time. It failed, but the gardens surrounding the building are nice. Inside, you'll find sculptures and galleries of paintings, including depictions of late 18th century India by Thomas and William Daniel, who traveled the country for nine years.
