59 km southwest of Bhuj. Founded in 1581, this seaside resort of almost 42,000 inhabitants is renowned for its shipyards. Merchants from Mandvi established themselves centuries ago in the ports of the Middle East and Zanzibar. You can visit the Vijay Vilas Palace, the abandoned summer residence of the maharajas, or walk across the long Rukmavati Bridge, built in 1883. Last but not least, the beaches are long stretches of sand where a strong wind blows. February 24 is the city's annual festival. An opportunity to enjoy classical music concerts on the beach, performed by renowned local musicians.
