38 km from Rajkot. During the occupation by the British Empire, the small princely state of Wankaner was granted the privilege of Salute State. The state's dignitary was greeted by eleven cannon shots during official ceremonies. The majestic Ranjit Vilas Palace, a true Anglo-Indian masterpiece, overlooks the city from Gadhio Hill. The maharaja and his family lived here until 2012. Later turned into a museum, it was the victim of a burglary in 2018, with thieves taking away much of its riches. Today, the town is known for the quality of its ceramics and its gentle hills.
