115 km south of Bikaner and halfway between Jodhpur and Bikaner. Nagaur is one of the most famous historical cities of Marwar. Its fortress was built in the 12th century, founded by the Naga Kshatriyas. It was the scene of many battles between the Rajput princes and the Muslim conquerors between the 14th and 15th centuries. From these numerous confrontations, the population drew a bellicose reputation from it. To say that one is native of Nagaur arouses fear and respect in the interlocutor. Despite an important festival of draft animals and another dedicated to Sufism, Nagaur does not have many accommodations, except for a luxury hotel that will delight the lovers of unique stopovers.
