RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK

Ranthambore National Park covers an area of about 400 km² amidst extraordinary landscapes of forest and savannah, swamps and ruins of hunting lodges. Very popular, it is here that you will have the best chance to see a tiger. In 2021, the official census reported the presence of 81 felines against about thirty in 2010. Despite these efforts, the population is still at high risk of extinction due to poaching. Apart from the tiger, the park is home to many other species and you are sure to see deer, fallow deer, peacocks and many birds with over 300 species listed.

The park has been divided into 10 distinct zones. Zones 1 to 5 are the core zones, while zones 6 to 10 were still part of the buffer zone until recently. This division improves traffic flow within the park and distributes vehicles evenly. To improve your chances of seeing the cat, plan at least 3 safaris, choosing different areas if possible. Prefer morning safaris, when the animals take advantage of the freshness of the dawn to feed and drink and to expose themselves. As the vehicles are open, cover up, as it can be cool or even cold (especially in December-January). A hat and a scarf will not be too much. In the summer, bring a good protection against the sun (glasses, hat, cream) and enough water.
