Red sandstone mosque built in 1650 with a classical architectural plan, including a large courtyard and prayer hall at the back.
This elegant mosque, a little faded, dates from the time of the foundation of Shahjahanabad. It was built in 1650 by Begum Fatehpuri, one of the wives of Shah Jahan. The mosque has a classical architectural plan: a large courtyard with an ablution basin and at the back the prayer hall. This one includes 7 openings in the shape of an arch, with the pishtak (the central arch) framed by two chhatri. The mosque is entirely built in red sandstone. At the end of Chandni Chowk, close to the spice market, it offers a soothing stop.
