30 km after Tazzarine, here's Nkob and its procession of old kasbahs. Situated at an altitude of 1,050 m, between the Ziz and Drâa valleys, the town is a perfect starting point for exploring the surrounding area. You can visit the Hammada desert, the pastures of Jebel Saghro and the canyons of Jebel Amoum. The region is also a delight for lovers of rock engravings, with easy access to hiking, camel riding, mountain biking and 4x4 tours. Numerous marble and fossil quarries, as well as gold and silver mines, can also be visited. In the evenings, you're welcome to stay overnight, as Nkob boasts hotels that are well worth a visit. Nkob is known in the region as the city of 45 kasbahs, a Moroccan record. Strolling through the narrow streets of the town, then into the oasis, is a pleasure, particularly in the early morning when the first fellahs arrive, or in the late afternoon, when the light makes the ochre-colored kasbahs shine. A bus runs from Nkob to Zagora every day in the early morning. A bus from Rissani, via Alnif and Tazzarine, stops at Nkob several days a week. These are small local buses, with random timetables. NKob can also be reached by road from Boumalne-Dadès and Tinghir, via Ikniouin. The journey by bus from Tinghir takes around seven hours, with many stops along the way. A CTM bus runs between Tazzarine, NKob, Ouarzazate and Marrakech.
