Located in the territory of the small town of Lukavac (12,000 inhabitants), 15 km west of Tuzla, this artificial lake of 17 km ² was created in 1964 with the construction of a major hydroelectric dam on the Spreča River. Stretching 11 km from east to west and 1.6 km wide, it reaches up to 20 m deep. With its beaches and numerous infrastructures (hotels, restaurants, etc.), Modrac Lake was an important tourist site until 2005. But the presence of wild landfills on its banks has encouraged the proliferation of bacteria. However, the location remains an important fishing site.
