A museum housing superb historical photographs by Italian photographer Vittorio Sella, depicting Svanetia in the 1890s.

Discover here the superb medieval Svanes icons (including the famous icon of St. George killing Emperor Diocletian), illuminated gospels from the 9th to 13th centuries, and other relics from the past, such as gold altar crosses inlaid with jewels. The treasures of the churches of Svanetia are collected here in great numbers. Also on display are the superb historical photographs by the Italian photographer Vittorio Sella, who depicts Svanetia in the 1890s. A visit not to be missed

Superbe musée, neuf et tres bien documenté, on y apprend des choses sur les Svan, mais aussi le Caucasse et les montagnes. Un vrai chouette musée a voir absolument avant une promenade dans cette région.
