It is the central village of Touchétie, with an aerodrome, hosting helicopters supplying the heights. Soldiers are based there all year round. There are two Omalo: Kvemo Omalo, a village from the Soviet era, where most of the inhabitants live. Without much charm, it gathers the rare small businesses of the region. Above is the old village of Zemo Omalo, with its picturesque stone houses and its emblematic set of defensive towers perched on their peak (known as Keseloebi). One of them houses a small regional ethnographic museum. Contact the director, Nougzar Idoidze (+995 99 27 22 65), to visit it.
