The best bars and cafés Tbilissi

Right on Perovskaya, a café run by the painter Alexander Antadze. Meeting point of artists, painters, cultural events, the small local is very friendly and convivial. The atmosphere is relaxed and the decoration, simple but thought out with modernity and taste, invites you to enjoy a coffee or a beer. A meeting point for artists and the theatre world of Georgia and the rest of the world, this café is a real institution. Run by the chief artist and owner of the adjoining puppet theatre, Rézo Gabriadzé, it is located opposite the church of Antchiskhati. Its design was elaborated by the artist's creations: collages, sculptures, restyling of antique furniture, paintings, all in a rare inventiveness. One can enjoy very good small dishes or have a drink there in a cosy atmosphere. A really charming setting and a very good address.

This coffee "reaches out" to you on your way down - or up to the citadel. Its décor is tempting; composed of colourful tables and seats furnishing the small terrace nestled in the hollow of a hairpin bend. Perfect spot to relax and watch the time go by! A cheerful, lively and warm decor to take a short break, sip a fresh fruit juice, think about other things, rest your tired feet while you continue to dream about the beauty of the city and plan the rest of your day's programme.

A modern, European bar. Young public, ideal for drinking a beer quietly. Proposes a menu of international cuisine; his pilmenis (Russian ravioli) are delicious. Two premises in Vaké.

In front of the Academy of Arts, a quiet and refined place, where arts students like to come and eat one end. Pleasantly elitist; good food and perfect to chat quietly, without stress or music too strong.

Inside the cinema complex, a calm and pleasant coffee, supposed to be "intellectual" (actually frequented by the public of cinema).

Very nice setting to discover and taste Georgian wines whose subtleties will be revealed by connoisseur waiters. The concept of Vino Underground is based on its wide choice of wines from small local producers, including organic wines (so you won't have a hairache the next day). In order to avoid rolling - too fast - under the table, you will also be able to enjoy beautiful assortments of cheese to accompany your wine choices. As the wines are on sale, you can leave with your favourite vintage under your arm.

One of the most glamorous bars of Vaké, not typically Georgian, but very appreciated by the public in the neighborhood in search of original outings! A French café, held by a Provencal and Georgian, offering delicious sweets covered with excellent ingredients in French or Italian, raw ham, olives, tuna, in fact all the antipasti you can imagine. A friendly and authentically Franco-Georgian atmosphere, a landmark of the French community in Tbilisi. A good place to make intercultural encounters. 

This was the first self-service to be opened in Tbilisi, now a chain present in every major city in the country. You can eat 15 lari very correctly. One of the best options for fast and cheap eating in Sabourtalo.

A floor below the Skyy bar is the same establishment. Night club, kitsch and slightly sifted, live music or DJs, always a great deal of atmosphere and entertainment in a city with an increasingly festive holiday and nightlife. A vaguely chosen atmosphere that goes with this type of institution. 

Installed in the very touristic street, right next to Kala, the second "Ostalgie" bar in Tbilisi, the site wants to bring back the Soviet times, based on a specially USSR decor. Decoration with old propaganda posters, chair numbers as prisoner numbers, etc. The whole a little kitsch and finally very western, very touristic. The country certainly needs to settle its accounts with one of the pages of its history. Before you get there, the other restaurants will try to sell you the charms of their own establishment.

A little bobo coffee, frequented by the artist/branchée scene of Tbilisi. A tiny local in the basement, but pleasant, beautifully decorated. Resting in the daytime can be animated in the evening and often linked to artistic events. 

Near the Philharmonie, this tea salon sailing towards Paris (La Rotonde) is a quiet and delicate place, welcoming and slightly elitist, but less large under the immediate surroundings, the street. For reasonable prices you can eat all kinds of cream or chocolate cakes, very good in the genus. To drink a coffee - their Turkish coffee is delicious - or a tea and chat calmly, it is an ideal address. You may find the layout and decoration quite exotic, but it's supposed to be a Parisian style coffee!

This café is housed in a building steeped in history, built two hundred years ago. As its name implies, it is opposite the Opera House, a location that makes the atmosphere special. It is the meeting place for artists. The service is impeccable, the coffees and cakes delicious. If you want to have lunch or dinner there, you will enjoy excellent Georgian cuisine accompanied by good wines. The atmosphere is hushed, enhanced by a few piano notes, very pleasant. Beautiful interior decoration, tasty and varied dishes, excellent welcome.

A Vaké, a café-pastry where delicious cakes around a café, but also very good salads, starters, aperitifs… A pleasant and pleasant place.

If you like jazz, you've found your HQ! The café organizes small jazz concerts between 9:30 and 11:00 pm every day. This is a very good bar, with a large glass bay, on the top floor of a building, with a huge terrace. There is a glass with some of the most beautiful views of the city: the whole old town on one side, the Armenian church of Avlabari and the Saméba Cathedral on the other, is a remarkable panorama of all sides. The bar itself may not be the taste of everyone. It has club-lounge appearances for new rich. But it is more pleasant than it appears first, and in the evening there is often live music and allows musicians of talent to animate evenings that can end very late.

A stone's throw from the lively streets of the capital, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to avoid the inconvenience, the café's terrace, welcoming and crowded in the evenings, is a perfect place to come and listen to gypsy jazz.
