On the Chilka River, centre of the Chilkinsky district, 248 km from Chita. Inspired by the Fertile Land of the Valley, the Cossacks founded Stanitsa (Village village), where the current station is located. In the past, the village of Chilka was a large trading centre for wheat and cattle that was used on barges and ferries downstream of Love. The surrounding area was Abounded in gold mines. During the Second World War, women were taken into mines to replace men with the front. In 1951, the village became a town.
