In the basement of the Palais des Rohan, the archaeological museum is one of the most important in France by the size of its collections. The structure retraces the history of Alsace over several millennia, from 600,000 BC to 800 AD. From the mammoth hunters of the Paleolithic to the Iron and Bronze Ages, through the first farmers of the Neolithic period and then to the Merovingian and Gallo-Roman periods, all periods are there! The presentations are clear, which makes the visit very interesting. The collection of terracotta and Gallo-Roman sigillas as well as the remains of the Donon temple are worth the detour. A real journey back in time!
