Theatre workshops and courses

In 2006, the Strasbourg Conservatoire, founded in 1855, moved to the Cité de la Musique et de la Danse. This renowned school trains musicians, dancers, choreographers and actors. Once their students have passed through the hands of teachers with rich and demanding programs, they present the fruits of their hard labor to anyone who wants to attend an evening event in the auditorium.

Plus: masterclasses, events, lectures and shows are open to the public by reservation, although many are free of charge.

GRAINE DE CIRQUE

Circus arts

Since 1990, the association Graine de Cirque has been keeping alive the practice and the passion for circus arts in Alsace. Under its big top installed in the Jardin des Deux Rives, next to the equestrian club, the circus school trains the widest possible audience in a few selected disciplines: juggling, balance on objects, aerial, acrobatics... Open to children from three years old in duo with a parent or from four years old alone, it is possible to practise throughout the year to learn a particular discipline as well as to register for one of the multidisciplinary courses organised during the holidays. Every end of the year, a week of shows is organized.

KWI-KA

Dance classes

Kwi-Ka is an association offering contemporary African dance, samba and zumba classes. The classes are led by Katia Matar, an adventurous choreographer trained in New York and Paris, whose motto is the blending of cultures, tradition and creation. Although the association is based in the station area, classes take place on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings at the Foyer Sainte-Madeleine (1B, rue du Fossé des Orphelins) or at Cardek (place des Orphelins, Strasbourg).

LA CLANDESTINE

Dance classes

School created by our local Pin Up: Luna Moka! La Clandestine is an original establishment that offers courses with very little known dances. You can learn about the Charleston, the French cancan or even the burlesque stripping! The classes take place in an intimate atmosphere, in small groups, which makes you feel very comfortable. A former aircraft repair factory during the Second World War, the 300 m² school is spread over 3 levels and has two classrooms of 80 m² each. The advantage of the structure? The diversity of the courses and the very atypical dances. But be careful, don't stop at the price of year-round courses that can be scary.

Embroidery sewing and knitting

Pôle couture is a private sewing school. Here, you'll be in a small group (5 to 8 people). Classes are tailored to individual needs and levels. You'll learn how to use a sewing machine, make alterations, use a pattern, sew difficult materials like leather and even learn to embroider! You'll learn how to make patchworks, create your own clothes or simply redecorate your home. Weekend courses are also available. That's what Geppetto's Workshop has to offer, with workshops for young and old (from 5 years upwards) and courses during the school vacations. Geppetto will provide you with models of old toys, so that you can build your own wooden toy with his expert advice. For the most gifted, your toy can even be animated. Children will quickly get hooked, but so will adults, who will be able to test their skills and creativity. Little by little, as the workshops progress, you'll create each piece, give life to an idea, master the technical gestures and your body until the final result is yours to give... or not!
